EMPOWERING TEACHERS

Dealing with the current education crisis needs more transformed and empowered teachers. Our vision for teacher communities is to go beyond their being mere communicators of content and subject knowledge to being transformative and inspiring educators. This means ability to critique traditional pedagogy, innovate more new methods for learning and engage in reflective pedagogical thinking.  They should develop empathetic skills to help every child to discover their latent potential and aim for a better education system for all children, and particularly understand the needs of those living in socially disadvantaged communities.  Every teacher who connects with us is equipped with skills to be empowered within and develop abilities to empower their learners through critical and creative pedagogical thinking. We are conscious, that in a rapidly changing world, teachers need to be mindful and need to be cognizant of the changing nature of knowledge, learning and environments. We conduct teacher transformative and skill training workshops for the pre service (aspiring) teachers and in-service (KG to PG) teachers to equip themselves as facilitators of learning and designers of the joyful and enabling learning environment for every child. Ourexperiential learning workshops includes teacher leadership skills, effective classroom management, integrating digital tools in teaching, innovative and joyful teaching methods, problem solving, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and interpersonal skills. Self-compassion as teachers plays a critical role helping well-being of children, building their character and inculcating values, aiming this we also organize teacher’s wellness workshops with many indoor and outdoor activities to de-stress and rejuvenate their inner strengths.

The journey to become effective teacher is being aware of their ignorance in the areas that is unknown to break their fear to commit mistakes, lose inhibitions, negative attitude and develop growth mindset to re-defining the purpose of learning for them. In our always evolving world, thinking outside the box is more challenging for many teachers as they are rooted in traditional boundaries of performing their tasks to be a ‘good teacher’. The experiential learning programs that we design are to break from this comfort zone and allow themselves to go through a transformative learning journey. Being able to see fresh perspectives to reflect to create a larger impact in their own lives and for students. In this way they become instrumental in creating an enabling educational environment which encourages curiosity, creative exploration, imagination, problem solving, collaborative thinking skills that will help them and guide students to navigate for their future life. Our workshops are experiential and they are curated to inculcate these 21 st century learning practices and gain practical experience for child centered innovative teaching and learning practice. The list of main topics curated for Teacher’s Professional Skills Development is given in the link. Interested educators can connect with us.

Pre-service teacher education is the education and training provided for aspiring student teachers before they undertake any teaching. We curate training programs relevant to their needs. They can also become part of our iTeach4Change fellowship program to gain practical experiential teaching methods. To learn and unlearn is a lifelong learning process for any teacher. The teachers are not only trained in academic requirements, they will go through innovative learning pedagogy of applied theatre, storytelling and various forms of expressive arts in education. They will be guided to improve their English skills. They will be engaging in designing the process of being change makers, especially developing a practical project on how to engage with parent communities within school space and in the community. As leaders they need to develop their schools as a centre for knowledge transfusion to bring change in the society. They will be given a child rights-based perspective and focus on strategies on how no child should be left behind for quality education. Developing schools as a strength for society is a core part of training to infuse design thinking, immersion programmes, a space to explore their passionate projects- a space to innovate-the purpose of expanding schooling beyond narrow academic focus and reorienting the role of schools within broader society. When Teachers and student learning is connected to the community, we are developing learners with greater sense of empathy and understanding of the world around them.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
