INCLUSION IN ACTION

Inclusion in Action is an initiative by i4 Connect Foundation during the COVID-19 period, for educational empowerment of the  marginalized children. We aim to create opportunities that bring children with special needs, children in the poverty line and all other children in an inclusive space. We have started two major programs where we are able to achieve this. 

CREATIVE LEARNING HUB

Creative learning hub is a participatory and joyful online learning network started in 2020. We connect to knowledge partners nationally and internationally who are experts in the fields of puppetry, story telling, music and movement, theater, etc to teach the children based on the week and theme of the month.

  • Building an inclusive space for children to learn and develop their talents and life skills. 

  • To grow the leadership qualities in children. 

  • Igniting the passion for teaching in children. 

  • Connecting together with teachers and students to create a collaborative learning space.

  • Creative Learning Hub was started in 2020 during the pandemic. We have connected to over 100+ children till date from Hyderabad, Bihar, Chennai and Madurai. 

  • Rainbow Foundation- Hyderabad, Krupa Foundation- Chennai, Asritha Home for girls- Hyderabad, Shankar Foundation – Hyderabad. 

  • We have connected almost every Wednesday for the past 3 years. Over 200+ weeks of the sessions have been completed. 

  • Children have built their creative skills and are able to express themselves with confidence. Their critical thinking skills have sharpened and now they share their opinions and ideas on social issues. 

  • We have collaborated with many organizations and professionals across India and internationally.

QUIZ CLUB

As an initiative for educational empowerment of children with special needs during the pandemic, we worked with the children of Shankar Foundation. As a step towards the process of inclusion in action, the Quiz Club was formed where children from the Creative Learning Hub. Every Saturday, the teams met virtually to conduct a quiz which is designed by the children based on specific themes allotted. It is a forum for the children to interact, learn, explore and develop their skills. It also aims at bringing the social consciousness about inclusion and social consciousness at an early age. 

  • Various general knowledge topics discussed. (For example – The environment, the forest, the water bodies, animals and birds, the flora life etc. ) 
  • Children are also guided on how to create these presentations and facilitate a quiz. 
  • Enabling critical thinking skills and research skills in the children. 
  •  
  • The children are able to create PPTs with the help of their teacher or parent and conduct these.
  • The teachers, parents and the children are able to see that no form of disability meant the child was any less intellectual. 
  • Parents of the children with special needs shared that their child started asking questions about their environment (building their awareness and critical thinking skills).
